Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Senior HVAC Service Technician and become a vital part of delivering top-tier heating, ventilation, and air conditioning solutions. The HVAC Service Technician 2 at High Desert Heating and Cooling is responsible for independently diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of HVAC systems, including advanced equipment and system components. This technician plays a lead role in ensuring energy efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction while supporting high-quality field service operations. Reporting to the General Manager, the Service Technician 2 is expected to work with minimal supervision, resolve complex issues, and provide mentorship to Level 1 technicians.
Responsibilities
1. Diagnostics & Inspection. Perform in-depth diagnostic assessments on HVAC systems using appropriate tools. Identify malfunctioning components or inefficiencies within systems.
2. Maintenance, Repair & Installation. Execute advanced maintenance procedures and repairs with minimal oversight. Replace compressors, coils, TXVs, reversing valves, and other HVAC components. Assist with installation and upgrades of HVAC systems, collaborating with install teams as needed.
3. Customer Communication & Documentation. Communicate complex issues and solutions clearly to customers. Document inspection results, repairs, and service notes in software tools. Coordinate with dispatch and administrative staff to provide accurate updates and maintain service schedules. Resolve customer concerns and deliver recommendations to prevent future issues.
4. Compliance & Safety. Adhere to all safety protocols and personal protective equipment standards. Maintain compliance with local, state, and national HVAC regulations and codes. Participate in continued learning related to new safety and HVAC industry updates.

Skills
- Proven experience in construction projects involving HVAC system installation.
- Strong background as a service technician with expertise in HVAC system repair, troubleshooting equipment issues, and performing mechanical systems repair.
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems including ammonia refrigeration applications.
- Skilled in electrical diagnostics, building automation systems (BAS), electrical systems, and plumbing related to HVAC setups.
- Ability to read schematics accurately and apply HVAC design principles effectively in the field.
- Proficiency with hand tools, ohmmeters, multimeters, refrigerant gauges, and other diagnostic equipment.
- Mechanical knowledge encompassing boilers, appliances repair, air conditioning units, and mechanical systems maintenance.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating company vehicles safely is essential.
- EPA certification required for handling refrigerants; additional certifications in HVAC/R or ammonia refrigeration are highly desirable.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
