Housekeeper
Job summary
This position is responsible for cleaning guest rooms and bath in accordance with company standards for quantity, cleanliness, guest satisfaction, and safety and security.
Essential Job Functions:
- Stock supply card and use the amount of supplies that are in accordance with standards.
- Remove all soiled bed linens and replace with clean linens for all suites listed as “Checked Out”, on all beds including the sofa bed.
- Remove all soiled towels, hand towels, washcloths, etc. for suites listed as “Checked Out” as well as requested by guest stay-overs.
- Clean/scrub/wipe bathtub, toilet, sink, walls, mirrors, tiles, counters, cabinets, drawers, television sets, etc. and floor surfaces of guestroom by using cloths, mops, sponges, brushes, etc. with the use of the appropriate cleaning agents as instructed by the department managers and supervisors.
- Dust all furniture, pictures, picture frames, drawers, window ledges, television sets, lamp shades etc. and shelves of guestroom with appropriate cleaning tools.
- Remove trash from guestroom.
- Vacuum all carpets in the guest room.
- Replenish amenities, linens and supplies in guestroom and bathroom following established standards.
- Operate a commercial vacuum cleaner by pushing and pulling throughout room and using attachments for corners and baseboards.
- Keep and secure assigned master key at all times and return assigned keys to the housekeeping supervisor or manager at the end of every shift.
- Be willing to complete other job assignments within the same department as directed by your manager/supervisors or manager on duty.
- Keep Housekeeping cart clean, stocked, organized and in proper working condition at all times.
- Empty and clean vacuum cleaner at the end of the day.
- Follow chemical safety rules and procedures for needles, razor blades, sharp objects, etc. and other hazardous materials.
- Turn in all lost and found items to the appropriate department manager; labeled with room number and date found.
- Follow and adhere to company procedures for safety and security; report all thefts and suspicious people.
- Help keep all storage areas closets clean, organized and secure.
- Adhere to punctuality, hygiene, and all policies and procedures according to the Employee Handbook.
- This position will require Housekeepers to stand, walk, stoop, bend, climb, bend, reach, carry, twist, push and pull a variety of objects, using all safety precaution/measures as to not injure yourself or anyone around you.
- This position will require the use of hands, fingers, wrists, arms, legs, feet, etc. to move, raise, lift, push, pull a variety of objects using all safety precautions/measures as to not injure yourself or anyone around you.
- This position will require bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, etc., for a variety of reasons, using all safety precautions/measures as to not injure yourself or anyone around you.
Guest Satisfaction:
- Announce presence and enter guest rooms in accordance with standards and procedures.
- Smile, acknowledge and greet guest in rooms and / or in passing in hallways and other public areas.
- Respond to guests request for additional supplies such as extra towels, iron board, etc.
Team Work:
- Be available to work flexible schedule
- Assist other employees in various assignments, such as operating the hotel automobile or courtesy van, and assisting with complimentary breakfast, laundry and housekeeping.
Safety and Security
- Perform duties in accordance with Safety and Security Policies and Procedures.
- Perform duties in accordance with OSHA, HAZCOM, and Blood Borne Pathogens regulations and other applicable state and local regulations.
- Report lost and found items in accordance with hotel procedures.
Education/ Experience:

- Housekeeping experience preferred.
- General knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their safety preferred
Minimum Skill Requirements:
- Ability to understand and comprehend English preferred
- Organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to follow written directions
- Obtain any locally required certifications.
Physical Mental and Environmental Demands:
- Prolonged periods of standing, carrying, and walking.
- Firm and simple grasping are required for all aspects of this position.
- Climbs stairs 20% of the time
- Bending and/or stooping up to 60% of the time while preforming essential tasks
- Being on knees up to 40% of the day cleaning floors, under sink and commode and under beds.
- Standing and walking within the confiners of the laundry room most of the time.
- Pushing and pulling for approximately 75% of the time.
- Lift 25 lbs-50lbs
- Twisting torso for approximately 75% of the time.
- May experience exposure to animal dander, hair and other by-products.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment
- Must be flexible in hours/ days.
- Must respond to multiple task interruptions in order to provide service to internal and external customers.
