Position Summary
The Customs House Brokerage Team Lead represents Scarbrough to our customers and is responsible for maintaining compliance across our clients' import activities while leading the CHB team from both an operational and morale standpoint. This person serves as the “go-to” resource for clients and coworkers alike, providing clear instructions and hands-on problem resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert in Customs House Brokerage (CHB) and related technology.
- Manage daily office operations, including vendor payments and site visits.
- Resolve client and employee issues related to CHB in a timely, professional manner.
- Lead and manage a diverse team, supporting morale as well as operational performance.
- Maintain positive, productive relationships with customers, colleagues, and vendors.
- Communicate openly and proactively with customers, colleagues, and vendors.
- Prepare accurate, compliant submissions of all customs-related data.
- Maintain effective, responsive email and phone communication with clients and colleagues.
- Establish and maintain dialogue with government agencies to facilitate resolution of Customs matters.
- Apply accounting fundamentals, including client invoicing and vendor payables.
- Track incoming shipments and update tracking systems to keep clients and the team informed.
What You Bring
- Demonstrated expertise in Customs House Brokerage regulations, processes, and technology.
- Experience leading or mentoring a team in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with clients and colleagues.
- Working knowledge of accounting basics such as invoicing and accounts payable.
- Comfort navigating conversations with government agencies on Customs matters.
- A proactive, service-first mindset and strong problem-solving skills.
