CONTROLLER
Position Summary
Our client is seeking a hands-on Controller to join their manufacturing team near Bryan, Ohio. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, processing payroll, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the CFO with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing environment, enjoys working independently, and is comfortable wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced organization.
This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Process and audit weekly payroll for both hourly and salaried employees.
- Review and validate timesheets, PTO accruals, deductions, and benefit withholdings.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company payroll regulations.
- Maintain payroll records and support payroll audits as needed.
Full-Cycle Accounting
- Manage all accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the accuracy of the general ledger.
- Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Assist in preparing monthly and annual financial statements.
- Support inventory and manufacturing cost accounting activities as needed.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly financial reports and variance analyses.
- Assist the CFO with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies.
Cross-Functional Support
- Partner with Human Resources regarding employee records, benefits administration, and payroll-related reporting.
- Collaborate with operations and manufacturing leadership to support financial decision-making.
- Provide accounting support and help ensure consistency of accounting processes
- Perform other accounting, payroll, administrative, and finance-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Experience processing payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, including general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience with manufacturing cost accounting is required.
- Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Proficiency with accounting software/ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- CPA is not required.
- Bachelor's degree is not required.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
