About the Organization: The Corsicana & Navarro County Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization serving the citizens of Corsicana and Navarro County through educational programs, advocacy, volunteer committees and events. Corsicana, the county seat of Navarro, is a historically rich, innovative and safe city that offers businesses and residents a true quality of life in a prime location in North-Central Texas. Corsicana is a growing city of Texans, both multi-generations and newcomers who got here as fast as they could, all engaged in a variety of work and recreation that creates a small town feeling with surprising and engaging services and programs. Known for being the birthplace of the Texas oil boom, Corsicana recently celebrated its 175th anniversary of being founded. The heart of Corsicana and one of its largest tourism attractions is the historic downtown. A charming 26-block downtown full of cherry red brick streets, historic buildings and a growing retail experience for the residents and visitors. In addition, the downtown is an award-winning Main Street program, having earned two state awards in 2022. Navarro County is home to several top-rated school districts and Navarro College. Corsicana also has a vibrant arts community which houses the Palace Theatre, a restored 1921 vaudeville house showcasing professional shows all year round. Warehouse of the Living Arts Center is one of Texas’ longest continually running community theatres and the city also has a robust artist and writers’ residency; Corsicana Artist and Writers Residency. With over 20 parks in the City of Corsicana, 3 lakes for fishing/boating, multiple museums, and a vibrant arts community, Corsicana and Navarro County is the place to be.
About the Job: The Corsicana & Navarro County Chamber of Commerce is seeking a motivated, energetic, and detail-oriented individual to fill the position of CEO/President.
Objective: The CEO/President is responsible to the Board of Directors for the full range of activities, including but not limited to, long and short-range planning, operational planning, problem solving, and management of all personnel. They are also responsible for budget and financial management, maintenance of membership, and employment training. The CEO/President will also interact directly with all city, school, and county officials along with chamber members, tourism partners, and the public in general, as needed.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred
· Strong financial background with experience in budgeting software (QuickBooks preferred), budget analysis, decision making and reporting
· Outstanding public speaking and presentation skills
· Strong communication skills
· Excellent customer service skills
· Extensive supervisory skills including ability to plan, organize, lead, delegate, and monitor
· Strong social media skills
· Superior marketing skills
· Experience in event planning and management
Responsibilities:
· Organize and coordinate Chamber functions, including committee meetings, seminars, mixers, membership meetings, etc., through effective planning.
· Enhance the Chamber’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic, and private organizations.
· Grow the Chamber’s membership base.
· Oversee the maintenance of all membership records and effectively manage the renewal process working to retain every member.
· Monitor and ensure members are contacted on a regular basis to ensure membership renewals and sponsorships and, if necessary, written communications regarding any past due or delinquent status. This also includes social media, newsletters, face-to-face contacts and community functions.
· Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the organization.
· Responsible for leading the chamber in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
· Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and the make informed decisions.
· Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the Chamber, including submission to the Board a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
· Engage in fundraising and developing additional revenue sources.
· Develop and implement strategy for social media and Chamber website.
· Responsible for the hiring, supervision, training, and retention of staff.
· Ensure the Chamber’s team is delivering exceptional customer service and customers’ needs are handled effectively and efficiently.
· Oversee the recruitment and training of volunteer personnel for the Chamber.
Other Requirements:
Office hours are generally Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. However, flexibility to attend early morning and evening events are a must. Carry out general or specific duties as assigned by the Executive Committee or Board of Directors.
