Family Tree Care, now a Schendel Lawn & Landscape company, is hiring a dependable and hardworking Groundsman to join our growing tree care team in Topeka!

As a Groundsman, you'll work alongside our tree care crew to maintain a safe, efficient, and professional job site while delivering an excellent customer experience. This is a great opportunity to learn the tree care industry, develop your skills, and grow with a team that values safety, teamwork, and hard work. Previous tree care experience is a plus, but we're willing to train the right person.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Work alongside the Lead Cutter to safely complete jobs
- Assist with tree work by providing the appropriate tools and following established safety procedures
- Remove branches, limbs, and debris from work areas and transport materials to the designated disposal area
- Perform raking, blowing, and basic yard cleanup after tree work is completed
- Operate hand equipment such as chainsaws, rakes, and blowers as appropriate
- Keep tools, equipment, and materials clean, maintained, organized, and accounted for
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional job site
- Deliver high-quality work and a positive customer experience

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Valid driver's license required
- Dependable, hardworking, and willing to work as part of a team
- Able to follow directions and consistently follow safety procedures
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
- Good attention to detail
- Previous experience in tree care, landscaping, construction, or another labor-intensive outdoor position is a plus, but not required
- Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
- Able to work on uneven terrain and regularly stand, walk, bend, crouch, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds
