The Parks and Recreation Department provides residents and visitors more than 41,000 acres of desert parks and mountain preserves. The parks feature 41 trailheads and more than 200 miles of trails, and 182 city parks. Additionally, there are 32 community and recreation centers, classes and sports programs for all ages, 29 pools, eight golf courses, and a variety of specialty and cultural venues and facilities.
The Recreation Coordinator III provides skilled professional recreation programming in a geographic area, specialist field, or for a major facility. Recreation Coordinator III roles include programming at park and school sites, providing citywide programming in a specialty field such as special events by identifying community needs, dance, drama, music, arts and crafts, special populations, senior citizens, outdoor sports, and supervising a major recreation facility such as an adult or community center. These tasks are successful through developing partnerships within the community and interacting with various community groups while following procedures and ensuring compliance of rules, regulations and ordinances.
