Duties
- Assist senior carpenters with measuring, cutting, and assembling wood and other construction materials using hand tools and power tools for woodworking.
- Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical drawings to ensure accurate project execution.
- Prepare job sites by setting up scaffolding, ensuring power tool safety protocols are followed during operation of saws, drills, sanders, and other woodworking machines.
- Participate in projects such as siding installation, door hanging, fixture installation, , and cabinet fitting.
- Support heavy lifting activities and material handling to ensure efficient workflow while maintaining safety standards on-site.
Requirements
- Experience or interest in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings for various carpentry tasks.
- Proficiency with hand tools (hammers, chisels, screwdrivers) and power tools used for woodworking (saws, drills, sanders).
- Knowledge of wood construction materials such as siding, trim components, drywall components, and cabinetry materials.
- Prior construction site experience or hands-on work in the restoration or remodeling industry is preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work at heights or in confined spaces as required on job sites.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety practices including power tool safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn new techniques in framing, fabrication, metal stud framing, door hanging, fixture installation, and more.
