The Division of Community Correction is looking for experienced professionals who possess effective leadership, problem solving, analysis, and communication skills to fill Corrections Field Supervisor vacancies throughout the state. These positions act as the unit supervisor/team leaders in the Probation and Parole Field Offices.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the operation and administration of a community Corrections field unit. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervision and control of clients including the security, monitoring, treatment and general living conditions for all clients assigned to the unit, as well as the development, implementation and monitoring of programs and services; supervision, direction and monitoring of all unit staff; management, and evaluation of intra-division movement of clients assigned to the unit; development and implementation of community Corrections program, services and resources; development, implementation and management of unit material and fiscal/budget resources; provision of management support services and information to Regional and Division staff; administration and direction of the Purchase of Goods and Services (POGS) program; planning and coordination of inter-Division and external agency activities and relationships. Assume responsibilities as delegated by the Regional Chief; serve as Interstate Compact Specialist; administer AA/EEO plans within the unit. This position has Division-wide on-call duty on weekends, holidays and during non-business hours with delegated administrative authority regarding the care, custody and control of clients.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule/range (81-03) with an annual salary of $57574 - $94993, plus excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:

Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with criminal justice and community agencies and/or the public.
Managing daily operations, verifying compliance with established protocols or program guidelines, assessing program effectiveness, and approval of office related transactions/activities.
Applying, interpreting and/or enforcing statutes, rules, policies, or procedures.

In addition to the above, well-qualified applicant will have experience:

Training, mentoring and/or advising on Community Corrections related topics.
Contributing to the development of work plans, and/or serving on committees or workgroups within an organization that focus on policy development.
Working with Community Corrections treatment policies, procedures and methods, and Evidence Based Practices.
Performing supervision or lead-worker activities (e.g., hiring; assigning, directing, and evaluating work; disciplinary matters; monitoring work, etc.).
Bachelor’s degree or higher.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid driver’s license.
A one-time exposure of OC product is required for certification and as a condition of employment. With Appointing Authority/ Designee approval, an individual who has been exposed to OC spray in any other Wisconsin training may not have to be re-exposed to be certified.
