About Us
Smith Arms & Defense LLC is seeking professional, dependable, and experienced Armed Security Officers to protect a licensed cannabis dispensary in Abingdon, Maryland. We are looking for individuals who take pride in their appearance, communicate professionally, and can maintain a safe and welcoming environment for customers and employees.
This position requires officers who can remain alert, exercise sound judgment, and respond appropriately to incidents while providing exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a highly visible armed security presence.
- Monitor customers entering and exiting the dispensary.
- Enforce site policies and security procedures.
- Conduct foot patrols of the building and parking lot.
- Prevent theft, trespassing, and other criminal activity through proactive presence.
- Respond to disturbances, emergencies, and suspicious activity.
- Complete Daily Activity Reports (DARs) and Incident Reports accurately and professionally.
- Communicate effectively with management, employees, and law enforcement when necessary.
- Provide excellent customer service while maintaining officer presence.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Active Maryland Security Guard Certification.
- Valid Maryland Wear and Carry Permit.
- Minimum 2 years of armed security, law enforcement, corrections, or military experience preferred.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Must be able to pass a background check and any site-specific screening requirements. Similar Maryland armed security postings commonly require an active armed credential and prior armed security experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous cannabis dispensary or retail security experience.
- CPR/AED Certification.
- De-escalation and conflict resolution training.
- Experience working independently.
Schedule
- Day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts available.
- Overtime opportunities may be available.
