Job Summary
43 North Iowa is looking to hire 2 full-time overnight Community Crisis Response Life Coaches for a newly created Community Crisis Response Team. These new positions will provide quality support to individuals experiencing mental health and substance abuse issues. These positions will work collaboratively with the police department, fire department, EMS and Prairie Ridge. CCRT Life Coaches are responsible for providing on-site mental health support to community members who call 911 for a mental health or substance abuse emergency. The Community Crisis Response Life Coach facilitates navigating the community member to the supports they need by offering an evaluation and care provided by Emergency Room, Crisis Stabilization Program, Prairie Ridge Inpatient Substance Assistance, contacting and professional hand off services to mobile crisis, or assisting the community member in returning to the community. These positions require 2 years of experience and applicants must clear all crisis expectations through the State of Iowa. The positions are as follows:
Position 1: 8:00 pm - 8:00 am Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
Position 2: 8:00 pm - 8:00 am Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Responsibilities
- Provide crisis support to engage in successful participation in becoming stable and seeking out the appropriate program to engage in moving through the mental health or substance abuse crisis.
- Assist individuals in connecting to programs that promote rehabilitation skills in areas, including but not limited to, symptom management, medication management, personal health and hygiene, housekeeping and laundry, budgeting and money management, meal planning and preparation, transportation, and applications for entitlements or other services.
- Assess issues of concern with immediate need and the reasons for calling 911.
- Advocate for client rights and facilitate the effective use of services through individual choice.
- Be comfortable responding to mental health emergencies alongside other emergency personnel and ensure safety for all.
- Engage in communication between all the partners of the Community Crisis Response Team in a professional and growth-minded manner.
- Accurately complete all documentation within the required timeframes.
- Maintain effective communication with management, colleagues and between shifts, reporting all key events within established timeframes.
Qualifications
- Associate of Arts Degree in Human Services preferred or a combination of education and relevant experience equivalent to an Associate of Art's Degree.
- Community Crisis Coaching requires 2 years of experience.
- Ability to relate to and effectively communicate a diverse set of solutions.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
- Self-directed, highly motivated worker who can work independently.
- Willingness to work on all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Must possess a valid Iowa State Driver's License and maintain a favorable driving record according to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Ability to anticipate problems and develop contingency plans to deal with them as well as evaluate and implement alternative courses of action.
- Ability to continue a course of action in the face of adversity.
