POSITION DESCRIPTION: Join a thriving contract team working for NASA’s Office of the Chief Health and Medical Officer! This is an entry-level position for someone with strong IT and Admin skills, providing room for growth opportunities. Full-time, remote teleworking position upon approval from NASA. We offer on-the-job training for career development and work-life balance with traditional 8am-5pm hours. Infrequent travel is anticipated, with once yearly travel for a week-long mandatory meeting. The Office of the Chief Health and Medical Officer (OCHMO) is responsible for policy and oversight of all health and medical activities at NASA. Our contract team at GSE supports OCHMO’s efforts in Occupational Medicine, Environmental Health, Electronic Health Records System, etc. Background in health information management for this position is a plus.
Primary duties for this position include:
- Working with other NASA Center program offices as requested by the NASA Office of the Chief Health and Medical Officer (OCHMO).
- Serving as an IT specialist within the broad scope of health information related matters.
- Serving as a technical support team member in health record content and documentation requirements.
- Testing and verifying software package updates in NASA servers prior to activation in production mode and informing NASA OCHMO stakeholders.
- Participating in special OCHMO projects, reports, surveys, studies in collecting and processing occupational health data.
- Coordinating with and providing feedback to OCHMO regarding Agency software development and modification recommendations.
- Advising OCHMO on software operations, procedures, and adequacy of data security, archival, and accessibility capabilities relative to all occupational health record content.
- Troubleshooting daily operating challenges within relevant software modules.
- Analyzing clinical and administrative processes related to occupational health information flow.
- Performing quantitative and qualitative reviews of health record documentation to ensure data analytics can be completed in a timely manner.
- Adhering to existing and future NASA documentation and policy requirements.
- Participating in OCHMO-led meetings related to occupational health information and provides technical recommendations.
Other duties include:
- Onsite and offsite meeting coordination and set up (e.g., annual meeting, video-teleconferences, webinars)
- Ordering supplies and other materials
- Assisting with Contractor team travel arrangements/logistics
- Interfacing with OCHMO contracting officer representative regarding IT needs (e.g., seats for PCs, phones)
- Assisting in large mailings
- Assisting in populating occupational health websites with non-technical content
- Assisting with other administrative tasks assigned by the Contractor Business Manager
- Recognizing and appropriately handling sensitive and high-visibility issues, complying with chain of command, ensuring confidentiality, and appropriately handling communications on various levels with personnel within and outside the Agency.
- Providing support in proofreading Contractor staff work products for grammar, spelling, format, and content (where applicable).
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s or higher with a minimum of 24 semester hours in computer science or health information technology preferred. Major field of study in health information management is a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent computer skills with minimum of 8 years using the Internet, with expert level of proficiency using the most recent versions of MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
Excellent written/oral communication skills and comfortable speaking/interacting with various professional levels of personnel.
At least 5 years’ experience preparing professionally formatted MS Word-based documents (e.g., e-mails, letters, memoranda, presentations, spreadsheets).
Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Typing speed at least 45 wpm.
PREFERENCES: Previous experience working for/with a federal agency and previous experience working in an occupational health related environment are desirable.
