Role:
We are seeking a Production Manager with expertise in sheet metal fabrication, to oversee and improve our production processes. This role is critical in ensuring efficient fabrication, maintaining quality control, and managing internal and external production teams. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and an effective communicator who thrives in an intimate, fast-paced, high-quality office environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee sheet metal fabrication by subcontractors and job shops, ensuring quality control, cost efficiency, and timely production.
- Conduct field measurements
- Use an online program to build standard and custom technical product drawings for customer approval.
- Conduct physical inspections of fireboxes and other products at various fabrication shops.
- Source and negotiate with new and existing manufacturers, materials suppliers, and tool providers to maintain cost-effective and high-quality production.
- Manage and support an internal Production Assistant, prioritizing workflow to meet customer deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with the sales and customer service teams to align production with business needs.
- Research and implement process improvements to increase production efficiencies.
- Maintain and enforce safety standards and best practices in fabrication and assembly.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
- 3-5+ years of experience in production and fabrication management, with a strong background in sheet metal manufacturing.
- Ability to sketch ideas and technical details to communicate design intent effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Suite (required); experience with Onshape or CAD, inventory control software and
- Good verbal and written communication skills for clear coordination between teams and suppliers.
- Experience in metal finishing techniques such as oxidizing, plating, powder coating, and ceramic coating.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve production challenges.
- Hands-on experience with basic hand and power tools.
- Ability to comfortably lift up to 75 lbs (with assistance if needed).
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, with training in engineering, industrial design, or logistics.
- Experience using CRM systems (e.g., Hubspot) is a plus.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license preferred.
- Ability to travel within the tri-state area to meet with suppliers and ensure timely project development.
- Experience in metal finishing techniques such as oxidizing, plating, powder coating, and ceramic coating.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $70,000–$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience
