Inpatient Oncology RN – Acute Leukemia $70/hour | 3×12-hour shifts | Rotating Days/Nights
Experienced Oncology RN needed for an inpatient hematology-oncology unit caring primarily for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients.
Position Details
- Specialty: Inpatient Oncology / Hematology
- Shift: 12-hour rotating days and nights
- Days: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
- Nights: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Pay: $70/hour — approximately $2,520/week
- Ratios: 1:4 goal; may be 1:5
- Charting: EPIC
- Patient population: Adults and geriatrics
- First-time travelers: Not accepted
- Weekend coverage varies based on unit needs
- Self-scheduling requests may be considered; no guaranteed blocked schedule
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- Recent inpatient hematology-oncology experience
- Medical-surgical oncology experience
- ONS Chemotherapy Certification required
- BLS and ACLS required
- NIHSS preferred
- Inpatient oncology experience must be clearly listed on your resume and skills checklist
Key Responsibilities
- Care for patients with acute leukemia and complex hematologic conditions
- Administer chemotherapy and blood products
- Manage IV antibiotics and electrolyte replacement
- Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias
- Perform central-line blood draws
- Manage PICC lines and peripheral IVs
- Start IVs and provide IV therapy/phlebotomy
- Participate in rapid response situations
- Provide feeding-tube care
- Follow infection-prevention and fall-prevention protocols
Orientation
- Week 1: Monday–Friday, day shift
- Week 2: 36 hours of unit-based orientation with a preceptor
