A leading nonprofit healthcare organization serving Middle Tennessee is seeking an experienced research professional to oversee a large-scale, patient-centered research initiative focused on improving health outcomes across communities in the Southern United States.
This position offers the opportunity to lead complex research efforts that bring together healthcare providers, community stakeholders, researchers, and patient advocates to address critical public health challenges and advance evidence-based care.
Position Summary
The IAP Specialist supports operational workflows related to insurance assistance, including claims processing, eligibility verification, enrollment coordination, client record management, and healthcare coverage documentation. This role serves as a key operational resource within the Insurance Assistance Program by maintaining accurate documentation, supporting quality standards, resolving workflow issues, and ensuring timely, client-centered service delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
- Reviews and processes insurance applications, claims documentation, enrollments, eligibility records, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinates insurance assistance activities, including healthcare coverage, premium support, and client record management.
- Maintains accurate client records, operational documentation, and workflow tracking within departmental systems.
- Reviews documentation for completeness, identify discrepancies, and route items for processing or appropriate follow-up.
- Communicates professionally with clients, case managers, providers, pharmacies, payers, vendors, and internal departments.
- Researches claims issues, assist with problem resolution, and coordinate operational follow-up to ensure timely outcomes.
- Monitors workflow queues, operational deadlines, and documentation standards while maintaining efficient processing.
- Maintains documentation integrity, confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
- Assists with quality assurance activities, process improvements, workflow standardization, and cross-functional collaboration initiatives.
- Participates in team meetings, cross-training, and continuous improvement efforts while delivering exceptional client-centered service.
Preferred Qualifications
Successful candidates will typically possess:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or a related field preferred.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in healthcare administration, insurance, claims processing, benefits administration, revenue cycle, medical office operations, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with healthcare insurance processes, claims, enrollments, eligibility verification, or client service environments preferred.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze information, solve problems, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining professionalism and delivering excellent customer service.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn new systems and detailed workflows.
- Experience with SharePoint, ShareFile, or other electronic document management systems, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality and HIPAA-compliant handling of sensitive information, preferred.
