JOB TITLE: PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
Reports to: Plant Manager
Status: Full time Exempt
Coach and Equipment, a leader in the manufacturing of paratransit buses, is searching for a Production Supervisor to help lead on the production floor. The Production Supervisor is a vital role, responsible for meeting goals and motivating teams. This role is perfect for a seasoned supervisor or a high performing associate ready for their next step.
JOB SUMMARY:
1. The production supervisor is Coach & Equipment’s first line of management in the plant.
2. Responsible for the smooth and efficient functioning of their team as a team, and accomplishment of the company’s goals in terms of quality, output, efficiency, continuous improvement, and the morale and development of their team members.
3. The job is a management position, requiring the supervisor to take charge of his or her area of responsibility within the factory and to be pro-active in helping senior management improve operations.
4. Efficient and effective daily production of all buses on the production schedule.
5. Meeting or exceeding quality standards.
6. Developing and maintaining a trained, flexible, motivated team.
7. Communicating clear expectations to the team and helping them achieve them.
8. Continuous process improvements and cost reduction.
9. Listen to, respect, and empower their employees.
10. Enforce company policy and maintain discipline through positive reinforcement & coaching.
11. Maintain safe and clean work environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Plan and organize the team’s work for the day and week, read work orders ahead of time and alert team members of unusual features of each bus.
· Prioritize labor needs on production floor and act accordingly
· Assure that required materials are at each station for every bus well ahead of time; address shortages or problems early, so as to minimize impact on production.
· Assure quality is built in at the outset (minimize rework or errors), through personal inspection of each bus as it moves through, and by training, team management and motivation for quality.
· Train and cross train members, and test for proficiency. Assure clear job definitions and set clear expectations for productivity, quality, and housekeeping at each work station.
· Lead lean thinking, team involvement and problem solving to eliminate bottlenecks, reduce waste, and implement process improvements.
· Recommend on hiring, developing, promoting, or firing of team members.
· Work / fill in as necessary to meet production requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE
- Experience in a leadership role OR at least five years of experience in manufacturing with progressive responsibility
- Must be able to show and elaborate on ability to lead and motivate others
- Associates degree or certificate in mechanical field helpful
- Experience preferable with discipline, performance management, goal setting and planning
