Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and dignity.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare professionals.
- Support medication administration in accordance with care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet individual dietary needs and preferences.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring proper sanitation standards are upheld.
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s <PERSON> (personal assistive devices) for safe transfers; provide patient monitoring during activities.
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with HIPAA guidelines and assist in updating individualized care plans regularly.
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental well-being.
- Participate in training on dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, autism support, hospice care, and other specialized areas to enhance your caregiving skills.
- Collaborate with team members, family members, and healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive support tailored to each resident’s needs.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs measurement, medication management, and safety protocols such as CPR and first aid certification.
- Hands-on experience assisting with ADLs, meal preparation, light cleaning, and resident monitoring is advantageous.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia or Alzheimer’s disease enhances your ability to provide empathetic support.
- Experience in long-term care or hospice settings demonstrates your commitment to compassionate caregiving across diverse health conditions.
- Strong communication skills combined with patience and adaptability are essential for working effectively with residents of all ages and abilities.
- Certification in CPR or first aid is a plus; ongoing training opportunities are available to expand your expertise in senior care, memory care or working with individuals with autism.
