Mission Readiness Associate 2 – Autonomous Vehicle Operations

Position Overview
We are seeking a technically capable, safety-focused Mission Readiness Associate 2 to support daily autonomous vehicle fleet operations in San Francisco.
This position is responsible for ensuring vehicles are clean, charged, properly configured, documented, and ready on time for scheduled testing and service operations. The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of experience in fleet operations, automotive services, technical support, logistics, vehicle maintenance, incident response, or another hands-on operational environment.
Responsibilities
- Ensure autonomous test vehicles, equipment, and work areas are clean, organized, and ready for operation.
- Complete vehicle-readiness procedures before scheduled testing and service missions.
- Charge vehicles and supporting equipment.
- Launch software across multiple devices and vehicle systems.
- Verify software and hardware configurations and deploy software when required.
- Capture requested operational data and escalate technical issues.
- Maintain accurate paperwork and vehicle-readiness documentation.
- Move and store vehicles, equipment, spare parts, and supplies.
- Organize and maintain spare-parts inventory.
- Assist Base Operations technicians with fluid changes, part replacements, wiring checks, and related tasks.
- Support vehicle-recovery situations as part of the Incident Response Team.
- Assist with cone courses, obstacle setup, traffic control, support-vehicle driving, and pre-mission preparation.
- Collaborate with technicians, operations personnel, and other teams across multiple locations.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of relevant professional experience.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean or excellent driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check, MVR check, and drug screening.
- Willingness to comply with the company’s Substance Abuse Policy.
- Ability to travel locally and nationally up to 30%.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and use carts, dollies, and hand trucks.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, push, pull, squat, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the shift.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to perform effectively during high-pressure or time-sensitive situations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Safety-first mindset, attention to detail, and a “get it done” attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting autonomous vehicles, electric vehicles, fleet readiness, automotive repair, or vehicle testing.
- Technical trade-school certificate or associate degree in automotive repair.
- Familiarity with software deployment and hardware/software configuration verification.
- Experience with vehicle recovery or incident-response procedures.
- Experience with fluid changes, part replacement, wiring checks, or basic vehicle maintenance.
- Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Office, or Google Workspace.
