Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and assist with meal assembly according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, ovens, and fryers
- Follow food safety protocols diligently, ensuring proper handling, storage, and sanitation of all ingredients and utensils
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, cooking areas, and equipment through regular cleaning and sanitizing
- Support menu planning by preparing ingredients in advance and suggesting improvements based on kitchen operations
- Collaborate closely with kitchen staff to ensure timely food production and smooth service flow
- Adhere strictly to safety standards during food preparation and cooking processes to prevent accidents or contamination
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is highly desirable
- Proven food preparation and cooking skills within a restaurant or food industry setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety management practices and proper food handling procedures
- Skilled in using various kitchen tools and operating commercial kitchen equipment safely
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with kitchen team members
- Experience with recipe adherence, meal preparation, and catering is a plus
- Ability to demonstrate knife skills, slicing techniques, and precise portion control
- Familiarity with menu planning, food industry standards, and culinary best practices
