$2,117.71 gross weekly= $24.20/hr, $36.31/OT & $1,246 per diem.

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced PCU/Stepdown Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide specialized nursing care to patients transitioning from intensive care units to less acute settings, ensuring seamless recovery and optimal health outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of critical care procedures, patient assessment, and advanced nursing techniques, contributing significantly to patient safety and comfort. Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in the progressive care unit or stepdown setting, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing complex medical conditions.
- Perform detailed patient assessments, including physical examinations and physiological evaluations, to inform individualized care plans.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of patient information, medical records, and treatment plans.
- Assist with diagnostic procedures such as cardiac catheterization, laboratory specimen collection, and imaging studies like sonography or MRI when necessary.
- Manage ventilator support, IV infusions, tube feeding, and aseptic techniques to prevent infections and promote healing.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians specializing in cardiology, neurology, geriatrics, and infectious disease care to coordinate comprehensive patient management.
- Provide education on medication administration, pain management strategies—including acute pain management—and discharge planning tailored to individual needs.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Support patients with complex needs such as dementia or Alzheimer's care, behavioral health issues, or those requiring hospice & palliative medicine services.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives aligned with NCQA standards and ICD coding practices for accurate medical documentation.
Skills
- Proven experience working in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I/II trauma centers; trauma medicine experience is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding is essential.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques.
- Skilled in advanced nursing procedures such as suturing, catheterization (including urinary and central lines), phlebotomy, and ostomy care.
- Experience managing complex patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disorders.
- Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations such as spinal taps or gastric lavage accurately.
- Excellent communication skills for effective triage assessments and patient education across diverse populations.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols including injections and IV insertions; familiarity with pain management practices is advantageous.
- Capable of working under pressure in fast-paced settings such as emergency rooms or urgent care clinics while maintaining high standards of patient safety.
- Understanding of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases; experience working with home & community care settings is a plus.
