The Construction Field Technician is responsible for testing, inspecting, and evaluating construction materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining quality control and supporting safe, durable construction practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform field testing on construction materials (e.g., soil compaction, concrete strength, asphalt density).
- Collect and prepare material samples for analysis.
- Record, interpret, and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
- Inspect construction sites to verify compliance with project specifications, codes, and safety standards.
- Operate and maintain testing equipment and tools.
- Communicate findings with engineers, project managers, and contractors.
- Identify potential issues with materials or installation and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in civil engineering technology, construction management, or related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications are a plus.
- Basic knowledge of construction materials, testing procedures, and industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks.
- Valid driver’s license may be required.
Experience:
- Entry-level candidates may be considered; 1–3 years of experience in construction materials testing or inspection preferred.
Work Environment:
- Combination of fieldwork at construction sites and laboratory testing environments.
