Pre -Vocational Specialist
HOURS: Full Time (37.5) 8a - 330p
Salary:$18.00 per hour
RESPONSIBILITIES:
GENERAL: Provide support and assistance for individuals with disabilities to develop work skills within community settings.
SPECIFIC: The DSP PRE-VOC shall:
1. Provide transportation to the volunteer site, a meeting place, and home, as need dictates.
2. Provide pre-vocational support and training that includes: following directions; multi-tasking; completing tasks; problem solving; work or community safety skills; increasing productivity; adapting to work routines; appropriate work attitudes and habits; teamwork; being flexible; managing stress; self-advocacy; travel training; assessing work interests, productivity, and skills; and using technology to meet workplace expectations.
3. Maintaining communication and coordination with families, houses, and other relevant supports.
4. Suggest modifications to improve service including ideas for areas of development.
5. Facilitate the workflow at community-based sites by keeping people working, and supervising and assisting where necessary.
6. Maintain liaison with volunteer site supervisor, assuring their satisfaction with work performance.
7. Assist in the development and maintenance of pre-vocational plans and complete all required paperwork, such as: daily documentation, monthly documentation, and annual assessments.
8. Follow established schedule of pre-vocational activities and prepare for assignments accordingly.
9. Adhere to agency safety standards.
10. Present a professional image to the business community.
11. Ensure vehicle cleanliness and keep routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire inflation, inspections, registrations, and quarterly van checks are up to date and notify the director of the program when other repairs may be needed.
12. Perform other work related duties as requested by supervisor, which may include coverage at another agency site.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma/GED preferred. Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities in a vocational setting preferred. Valid drivers license also required.
Other requirements include: excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, record keeping skills and the ability to train individuals with disabilities. Must also be able to demonstrate through action and relationships within the organization a commitment to teamwork and the agency mission.
