North Shore Youth Council (NSYC), a not-for-profit community-based agency, is seeking Site Directors for our School Age Child Care Programs (SACC) for the 2024-2025 school year. Our programs take place before and after school and service youth in kindergarten through fifth grade in the Mount Sinai, Rocky Point, and Shoreham-Wading River School Districts.
The Site Director will work under the direction of the SACC Director and is responsible for being on-site before and after school to supervise children and staff and facilitate the child care program daily. Programs provide morning and afternoon child care and enrichment when school is in session, Monday through Friday, in the mornings from 6:45 AM to 9:30 AM and in the afternoons from 2:45 PM to 6:00 PM (actual program hours vary based on school).
Job duties:
-Supervise and monitor the health, well-being, and safety of all children in the program in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings within the licensure requirements and regulations of the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and agency policies.
-Work with the SACC Director to complete and maintain required OCFS and NSYC paperwork and licensure, keeping records up to date and accurate.
-Plan, organize, and implement the daily school age child care program schedule of activities before and after school.
-Keep daily attendance, manage registration paperwork, keep appropriate records, incident reports, etc., and maintain all program equipment and inventory.
-Administer daily health screenings, basic first aid, and medications as may be required in accordance with OCFS and agency policies.
-Conduct and record regular fire and emergency evacuation drills with children and staff.
-Follow the appropriate disciplinary policies, resolve conflicts, and maintain effective communication with parents/guardians in a professional manner.
-Evaluate staff performance, manage staff schedules, and review timesheets for payroll.
-Exhibit effective communication with staff, parents and guardians, and school administrators, and promote participation.
-Attend meetings and staff training as required.
-Work with the SACC Director to sustain a high-quality child care program that values partnerships between families, schools, and staff.
Qualifications:
-Associate’s Degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field; or 18 college credits in the aforementioned fields; or a New York State Children's Program Administrator credential; or a School Age Child Care Credential or other Office recognized credential specific to the school-age developmental period.
-Two years direct experience working with children under the age of 13 with at least one year in a supervisory capacity.
-Must be able to provide credentials, licenses, and/or certifications and submit to fingerprinting and background checks.
-Must possess valid First Aid and CPR certifications, but will provide training if necessary.
-Excellent communication and organization skills.
