Position Overview
A HNW family on the Upper East Side is seeking an experienced Housekeeper / Cook to care for their luxury penthouse residence. This is a hands-on position requiring exceptional housekeeping standards, strong organizational skills, and confidence in the kitchen.
The principals regularly host business meetings, dinners, and guests in the residence, making a strong hospitality and service mindset essential. The ideal candidate will understand the standards of a sophisticated private home and take pride in ensuring the residence is always beautifully maintained and guest-ready.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed, museum-quality cleaning throughout the penthouse
- Properly care for fine furnishings, artwork, marble, wood, and other luxury finishes
- Manage household organization, including closets, pantries, cabinets, and storage areas
- Handle full laundry responsibilities, including washing, ironing, steaming, and fine garment care
- Maintain bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and entertaining areas to exceptional standards
- Prepare fresh, simple, and well-presented meals for the principals as requested
- Assist with grocery shopping, pantry management, and maintaining kitchen supplies
- Prepare the residence for business meetings, dinners, guests, and entertaining
- Assist with table setting, food and beverage service, and guest hospitality
- Provide polished service during small dinners and gatherings as needed
- Assist with post-event cleanup and ensure the residence is quickly returned to its normal presentation
- Monitor household supplies and coordinate replenishment as needed
- Work collaboratively with other household staff, vendors, and service providers
- Maintain complete discretion and confidentiality regarding the family and their guests
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience working in a high-end private residence
- Strong experience with museum-quality cleaning and luxury home care
- Excellent laundry, ironing, steaming, and wardrobe-care skills
- Comfortable preparing simple, healthy, high-quality meals
- Previous formal service, hospitality, or entertaining experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of proper table setting and guest service
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Professional, polished, discreet, and service-oriented
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a household team
- Flexible schedule with occasional weekend availability when required
- Professional, punctual, and highly reliable
- Strong communication skills
- Valid U.S. work authorization
