Position: Accountant / FP&A Analyst
Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid – 1–2 days per week in the office)
Employment Type: Temporary
Assignment Period: ASAP / September 2026 through January 2027 (approximately 5 months)
Schedule: Part-Time (minimum 20 hours per week) to Full-Time
Pay Range: $35–$45/hour, DOE
Position Summary
A San Francisco-based law firm serving primarily Japanese-speaking clients is seeking an Accountant / FP&A Analyst for a temporary assignment to provide coverage while an employee is on maternity leave. The assignment is expected to begin as soon as possible or in September 2026 and continue through January 2027. This is a hands-on accounting position responsible for both the firm's internal accounting operations and accounting support for external clients.
Key Responsibilities

Manage internal accounting functions, including AP/AR, billing, payroll reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close

Handle external client accounting, including billing and bookkeeping-related activities

Prepare financial reports and support budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A activities

Manage and reconcile client trust (IOLTA) accounts

Maintain accurate accounting records using QuickBooks

Coordinate with outsourced bookkeeping support

Support multi-entity accounting and reconciliations

Communicate with clients regarding accounting-related matters

Perform other accounting and operational duties as needed
Qualifications

Professional accounting or bookkeeping experience

Strong QuickBooks skills

Experience with AP/AR, billing, reconciliations, and month-end close

Payroll accounting experience preferred

IOLTA or law firm trust accounting experience highly preferred

Japanese language skills is a plus

Ability to work independently and manage multiple accounting responsibilities
