Culinary Director
At Vitality Court Texas Star, our mission is to create vibrant communities where residents, families, and team members feel a true sense of belonging. We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Culinary Director with strong leadership skills and senior living or healthcare culinary experience to lead our kitchen and dining operations.
Role Summary
The Culinary Director leads daily kitchen and dining operations, ensuring exceptional service, high-quality meals, and a and a resident-centered dining experience. This is a leadership-focused role for someone passionate about coaching, mentoring, and building high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily kitchen and dining room operations with a strong focus on service excellence
- Ensure resident preferences are honored and dining experiences exceed expectations
- Oversee table service standards, food delivery, and service in all dining areas
- Manage food safety practices including temperature monitoring and sanitation
- Ensure dining rooms and private dining spaces are fully set and service-ready
- Support special events, celebrations, and private dining experiences
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety throughout all kitchen and dining areas
- Ensure proper storage and handling of food, supplies, and chemicals
- Follow fire safety, infection control, and emergency preparedness protocols
- Promptly address unsafe conditions or equipment issues
- Perform other duties as assigned to support community operations
Leadership & Team Development
- Train, coach, and develop culinary and dining team members
- Conduct performance reviews and support recognition and growth opportunities
- Participate in required trainings, meetings, and in-services
- Support emergency preparedness training and evacuation planning
- Model and uphold Vitality Living’s leadership values and safety standards
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Culinary Degree or Certificate preferred
- 3–4 years of culinary and dining management experience preferable in senior living, healthcare or memory care
- Sous Chef or lead cook experience preferred
- Current ServSafe Certification
- Strong leadership, team development, and communication skills
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and culinary best practices
- Commitment to hospitality, service excellence, and resident-centered dining
