We are a family owned and operated small animal, multi-doctor practice seeking a dependable, skilled Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist with at least 2 years experience.
Essential Job Functions Include:
- Manage the front desk by greeting clients, checking patients in/out, scheduling rechecks, collecting payments
- Answering the phones and schedule appointments or surgeries; provide answers to basic client questions; refer phone calls to technicians or doctors when appropriate
- Ensure client information is updated in the paper and computer records; create new client records
- Oversee the clinic flow
- Discuss payment options with clients
- Assist with daily administrative duties such as printing schedules, pulling charts, filing, emailing or faxing medical records, distributing mail and lab work and purging charts in the system
- Maintain cleanliness of waiting room and reception desk
- Run daily reports and balance payments received at the end of the day
- Complete paperwork for medication refills (but not authorize or fill medications)
- Manage and provide for the patient’s needs such as cleanliness, nutrition, necessary and appropriate bedding, physical therapy, exercise, comfort and support
- Assist doctors in exam rooms
- Perform required treatments and record observations legibly in medical records
- Assist in patient restraint, test set up, nursing care and triage/discharge of patients
- Transport patients to and from the hospital wards to the pre and post-surgical areas
- Assist with cleaning surgical equipment, packing/sterilizing instruments as well as surgical suites
- Performance of basic in house laboratory testing, completion of forms for laboratory, filing lab reports and clean up of laboratory area
- Monitor daily husbandry activities of in-hospital patients
- Communicate with doctors and technicians regarding patient status or concerns
- Provide after care of patients and clients
- Following established hospital policies and procedures when handling client concerns or complaints
- Stocking and cleaning exam rooms, treatment tables and other portions of the hospital
- Perform other job duties as assigned
Qualifications Include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- At least 2 years working within a customer service environment preferred
- Must be computer literate; basic computer skills with ability to navigate new software (Cornerstone experience a plus)
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to work well within a team environment
