The Opportunity
Reporting to the Cashier Department Manager and supervised by the Cashier Department Manager and/or Cashier Department Head and/or their delegate, you play an important The Opportunity in maintaining the smooth operation of the Cashier Department. You will support the daily activities and offer guidance to junior team members, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to departmental standards.
You Will:
- Deliver exceptional customer service with a welcoming smile, greeting and assisting customers enthusiastically, friendly, and courteously.
- Assist customers in the Customer Service Counter, such as order and replenish gift cards, handle returned product, return bottles, sales of tobacco, answer phone call, sell lottery tickets, bus tickets, etc.
- Address customer complaints promptly, fostering positive relationships through attentive service and genuine engagement.
- Monitor transactions and prevent possible fraud (including PLU# input, scan merchandise, transaction discrepancies, identify counterfeit/ fake cards).
- Provide guidance and supervision to junior team members, provide feedback on staff performance, assist in staff training and development within the department.
- Lead by example, demonstrating proficiency in all assigned duties and setting a standard for excellence.
- Familiar oneself with all in store promotion activities to better assist customers and deliver effective & accurate checkout services.
- Fulfill any additional responsibilities as assigned by superiors, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the department.
You Should Have:
- Willing to work flexible shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and statutory holidays.
- Able to stand for an extended periods.
- Basic computer skills in MS Office & knowledge of accounting.
- Good knowledge of payment method including cash, bank cards, and credit cards ; possess knowledge in selling lottery tickets, bus tickets, gift cards etc.
- Able to handle paperwork & reports effectively in an organized manner.
- Familiar with relevant tools and equipment, able to interpret product labels.
- Able to communicate in English, proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety protocols.
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated commitment, accountability, and reliability in previous roles.
- A good team player, capable of collaborating with and assisting colleagues.
- Good organization, problem-solving, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Positive, proactive, and self-motivated work ethic.
