Position Summary
Electrical District No. 2 (ED2) is seeking an Accounting Intern currently pursuing a degree in accounting. This temporary position offers hands-on experience in bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, utility plant accounting, and financial reporting in an electric utility environment.
The intern will assist with reconciliations, invoice processing, journal entries, data analysis, and month-end reporting. Part-time or full-time hours may be available during the school year and summer, based on departmental needs and the intern’s availability.
Typical work hours range from 15 to 40 hours per week, depending on departmental needs.
Pay Range: $15.50-$25.00 – Compensation will be determined within the posted pay range based on the candidate’s education level, experience, and relevant skill set.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with month-end reporting, schedules, and supporting workpapers.
- Post journal entries and support preparation of financial statements.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice processing and payment tracking.
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain financial records, spreadsheets, and supporting documentation.
- Perform other related duties in support of accounting and finance operations.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to stay organized, manage time effectively, and produce accurate work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Education
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Current enrollment in, or completion of, an accredited college program in accounting preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- Coursework in financial or managerial accounting
- Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, or financial reporting
- Preferred: College student, Part-Time, Seasonal

Our headquarters is located between Casa Grande and Coolidge, Arizona, approximately 45 minutes south of the Phoenix East Valley. This location allows flexibility to live in the Southeast Valley or closer to the rural communities we proudly serve.
