Overview
Join our dynamic civil construction team as an Earthwork Operator, where your expertise in heavy equipment operation and site preparation will drive the success of large-scale infrastructure projects. In this role, you will be responsible for executing earthmoving tasks with precision, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining construction machinery to uphold project timelines and quality standards. Responsibilities
- Operate heavy earthmoving equipment such as excavators, loaders, and backhoes to perform excavation, grading, trenching, and utility installation tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks on construction machinery to ensure optimal performance and compliance with equipment safety procedures.
- Assist in construction utility work by locating underground utilities using utility locating tools to prevent damage during excavation activities.
- Follow federal construction safety regulations and site-specific safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
- Support construction site activities by performing general labor tasks, including site clearing, leveling, and preparing the ground for subsequent phases of construction.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project milestones are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety throughout all earthwork operations.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, maintenance logs, and safety inspections to support operational transparency and accountability.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating construction machinery such as excavators, loaders, backhoes, and Caterpillar equipment in a civil construction setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic maintenance on heavy equipment.
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in commercial truck driving preferred.
- Knowledge of construction grading techniques, excavation processes, and utility installation procedures.
- Familiarity with federal construction safety regulations and adherence to equipment safety procedures is essential.
- Construction site experience demonstrating the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing safety.
- Ability to perform construction utility work including utility locating and underground utility protection measures.
- Excellent teamwork skills combined with a proactive attitude toward safety compliance and operational excellence.
