Mountain Crest is an employment services agency providing employment supports to individuals who experience any kind of disability. We also provide mental health counseling to individuals, couples, and families. We have offices in Sherwood and Happy Valley but serve the greater Portland Metro area.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Employment Specialist/Case Manager to support individuals in achieving meaningful employment and community integration. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in social services, workforce development, and case management, with a passion for empowering diverse populations, including those with disabilities and from underserved communities. This role involves providing comprehensive support, coaching, and training to clients, ensuring they receive tailored services that promote independence and community intergration in their employment ventures.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough client assessments to identify employment goals, skills, and barriers to employment.
- Develop individualized employment plans that align with clients' strengths, interests, and community resources.
- Provide coaching on job readiness skills, interview techniques, resume writing, and workplace etiquette.
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops on workforce development topics such as labor laws, social services navigation, and disability accommodations.
- Collaborate with employers, community organizations, and service providers to create employment opportunities for clients.
- Maintain accurate case files and documentation in compliance with organizational policies and funding requirements.
- Offer ongoing mentoring and support to clients throughout their employment journey to foster retention and growth.
Experience
- MUST possess a Bachelor's degree (will consider any field, but human services, psychology, sociology, and similar fields are preferred)
- Satisfactory oral and written communication, math, and computer skills.
- Preference will be given to those who have experience with individuals who have developmental disabilities or from underserved communities.
- The ability to maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
- This position requires an Oregon driver’s license, a good driving record, and a registered / insured vehicle available for daily work assignments.
- A cleared criminal background check.
- Ability to assist client in activities of daily living as well as related job tasks.
- Ability / willingness to support individuals with challenging behavior.
- Background in coaching, mentoring, training & development, or recruitment is highly desirable.
- Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse communities while demonstrating sensitivity and inclusivity.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Manage Case Load of individuals who experience a variety of disabilities in a variety of services related to employment and career services. This also includes managing your own work schedule and ensuring availability for in person work daily and driving between job sites to provide essential supports.
- Support career exploration activities for individuals including support with exploring suitable jobs, scheduling informational interviews and job shadows with local businesses, and ultimately helping identify a suitable job goal with the client .
- Manage job development activities including supporting with all active pieces of job search, application, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Support onboarding and maintenance of employment through job coaching, tailoring the job coaching plan for individual needs and increasing/fading as necessary. Job coaching can include breaking job duties and assignments into specific steps to facilitate learning, creating visuals, or support to modify tasks for the client.
- Serves as a liaison between employee and employer and facilitate appropriate worker to supervisor relationship.
- Community and Employer engagement to uncover and assess business needs and build relationships with employers who can collaborate with Mountain Crest to support our employment services programs and the individuals we work with.
- Maintain accurate records on all services provided to each consumer, including daily and monthly reporting.
- Makes all decisions based on Mountain Crest Counseling Service’s Vision and Mission Statement.
- Completes all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Hours dependent on client’s need. Typical schedule will adhere to Monday through Friday business hours; however, staff must be available for occasional evening and weekend hours.
