Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and perform thorough intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and updating personal information.
- Measure vital signs accurately and document findings in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Assist healthcare providers with procedures such as medication administration, X-ray preparation, and basic life support during emergencies.
- Support clinical operations by preparing examination rooms, sterilizing equipment, and managing supplies.
- Conduct basic physiology assessments, assist with anatomy-related procedures, and support patient education initiatives.
- Perform ICD coding for diagnoses to ensure precise billing and recordkeeping; support documentation of inpatient and outpatient visits.
- Maintain a high level of patient service by addressing questions, providing comfort measures, and ensuring a positive experience throughout the visit.
- Safely operate your own vehicle to and from patients homes or facilities where patients are housed.
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws, state transportation regulations, and company policies to ensure safety at all times.
- Assist providers with in-home visits and transporting providers to and from in-home visits
- Conduct and assist patients with telehealth visit preparation, the acutal telehealth visit, and post telehealth instructions.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of assigned vehicles, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to confirm schedules, routes, and special requirements while ensuring punctuality.
- Handle heavy lifting of medical supplies or equipment when necessary, following proper manual handling procedures.
- Document trips accurately through logs and reports, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in diverse clinical settings such as hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics.
- Knowledge of dermatology, emergency medicine, geriatrics, medical-surgical care, internal medicine, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), OR (Operating Room), Level I & II trauma centers preferred.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and medical terminology for accurate documentation.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent required; additional certifications in X-ray or medication administration are a plus.
- Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology to assist with patient assessments effectively.
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments including hospital experience or Level I trauma center exposure.
