Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mobility Assistant Vehicle Technician (MAVT) specializing in wheelchair vehicles. In this vital role, you will perform maintenance, repairs, and safety inspections on wheelchair-accessible vehicles to ensure reliable and safe transportation for our patients. Your expertise will directly impact the comfort and safety of individuals relying on our services.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on wheelchair vehicles, including mechanical systems and accessibility equipment
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment such as ohmmeters to diagnose and fix vehicle issues
- Inspect vehicles for safety compliance, ensuring all wheelchair lifts, ramps, and securement systems function properly
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used
- Assist with vehicle diagnostics using electrical testing tools to identify faults accurately
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks to extend vehicle lifespan and ensure operational readiness
- Collaborate with team members to prioritize repairs and maintain a fleet of safe, dependable vehicles
Experience
- Proven mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance or repair
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing devices such as ohmmeters
- Prior experience working on specialized vehicles or accessibility equipment is a plus
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic data
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently while adhering to safety protocols
