A shuttle driver transports passengers, goods, or equipment between locations. They are responsible for safety, customer service, and following schedules. Responsibilities
- Transport passengers: Safely drive passengers to their destinations
- Follow schedules: Confirm and follow schedules, and meet time deadlines
- Maintain vehicles: Check vehicles for safety, and perform minor repairs
- Provide customer service: Assist passengers, including those with disabilities, and help with luggage
- Follow regulations: Comply with traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies
- Communicate: Use radios, phones, or computers to communicate with dispatchers
- Report issues: Report accidents, vehicle problems, and other issues to dispatchers or supervisors
- Perform errands: Deliver or pick up mail, packages, or other items for customers or employers
Qualifications
- Clean driving record
- Commercial driver's license (CDL)
- Ability to pass a drug test and background check
- Knowledge of local routes and traffic regulations
- Ability to operate vehicles with specialized equipment, such as wheelchair lifts
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions
- Willingness to work shifts that may include late hours
Shuttle drivers may also need to complete on-the-job training.
