Salary:
Starting Pay for Call Taker $17.50/Hr.
Starting Pay for Dispatcher $18.50/Hr. (Up to $22.50/Hr. When trained)
Full Time with set hours:
Call Taker Schedule- Tuesday- Saturday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Dispatcher Schedule- Friday, Saturday, Sunday 6:00 PM to 8:00 AM (Subject to change)

POSITION SUMMARY
The call taker takes information from a customer regarding transports; to ensure a safe and efficient and timely transportation; also, to determine what type of transport is needed for the particular situation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The call taker listens to customers and records accurate information. The Dispatcher also deals with the various employees with different emotions including but not limited to dealing with customers who have billing issues.
- Maintains exceptional knowledge of specified service contracts.
Effectively communicates with all employees.
- Effectively deals with field conflicts and provides adequate information to management.
- Assists in maintaining compliance with all established customer service standards.
- Supports and upholds established corporate and departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement, and safety standards.
- Maintains performance levels consistent with departmental standards.
- Maintains competency and enhances professional growth and development through continuing education, conferences, and seminars.
- Maintains a calm, non-emotional and professional demeanor, demonstrates positive behaviors, approaches, attitude and commitment to interpersonal service toward customers, visitors, and coworkers.
- Answer incoming phone lines and processes the information in an accurate, timely, and courteous manner; receives incoming emergency and non-emergency calls and promptly ascertains proper levels of response; allocates resources to match dynamic system demands and inputs applicable information into the CAD system.
- Follow established policies for caller interrogation, information gathering, call triage, and customer service.
- Demonstrate knowledge of area landmarks and geography including: all metropolitan areas, counties, fire districts, hospitals, and extended care facilities.
- Understand and maintain equipment located in the communications center ensuring efficiency of operations.
- Report equipment malfunctions to management.
- Attend scheduled department meetings and training sessions.
- Completes and submits daily status reports regarding unusual incidents to management per established guidelines.
- Assists in the collection of data for patient billing purposes.
- Periodically function in each area of certification within the Communications Center to remain proficient.
- Additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Data entry experience with typing speed of at least 35 wpm required.
- Knowledge of County’s geography
- Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; Ability to work independently and as a team.
- Regular attendance; Dedicated; Reliable; Flexible work hours.
- Experience working with computers to include Microsoft Office products.
- Progressive skills at problem solving.
- Ability to perform in a high stress environment.
- Ability to wear and use a headset o Must have no significant loss of hearing with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stay seated for long periods without relief.
- Color Vision: ability to distinguish and identify different colors.
- Ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Ability to read, interpret and follow instructions.
- Dispatcher Exp preferred
