Role Description
Sperry Automatics is seeking a Davenport Machinist for a full-time, on-site position in Naugatuck, CT. In this role, you will set up and operate Davenport screw machines, monitor machine performance, and make adjustments to ensure efficient production and consistent product quality. You will perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and inspect finished parts to verify they meet quality standards and customer specifications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and committed to maintaining a safe and productive work environment. You will work closely with team members to improve manufacturing processes, minimize downtime, and support production goals.
Qualifications
· Previous experience setting up and operating Davenport screw machines is required.
· Must be mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot.
· Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring equipment. (Ex. micrometers, calipers, and gauges.)
· Knowledge of tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining practices.
· Ability to work independently and with other team members.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
· High school diploma or equivalent; technical /shop training preferred
