In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating various types of vehicles, including box trucks and personal vehicles, to transport goods and belongings efficiently. Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks and box trucks to transport goods, furniture, or equipment to designated locations.
- Load and unload items using manual handling techniques and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and dollies, ensuring safe lifting practices.
- Adhere strictly to traffic regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and company policies during route driving and delivery operations.
- Assist customers with moving items, providing excellent customer service through clear communication and professional conduct.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure safety standards are met; report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Follow prescribed routes using mobile devices for navigation, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining safety at all times.
- Load and secure cargo properly in compliance with weight handling guidelines to prevent damage or accidents during transit.
Experience
- Previous experience in delivery driving, warehouse operations, or moving services is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with commercial driving including operating box trucks or similar vehicles with manual transmissions.
- Experience with manual handling, heavy lifting, and the use of material handling equipment such as pallet jacks or dollies.
- Knowledge of traffic regulations, DOT regulations, and safe lifting practices in a workplace setting.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients during deliveries or moves.
- Ability to operate mobile devices for route navigation and communication purposes.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to safety protocols related to weight handling in the workplace and transportation safety standards.
