Position Summary: The Teacher is responsible for utilizing Ignitia to deliver high-quality instruction while adapting the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students. This role involves creating a supportive and effective learning environment, assessing and adjusting instructional levels, and maintaining accurate academic records. The Teacher will collaborate with staff, parents, and the homeschool district to ensure students' educational goals are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with Algebra I, Algebra II, and High School Geometry.
- Set expectations, assess students’ instructional levels, and modify curriculum to meet the needs of students.
- Update students’ IEP goals as requested by the home school district.
- Assign classes, monitor student progress, and keep transcript reviews up to date.
- Notify Integrity when a new student is coming to set up login and register students in Ignitia.
- Align classes according to state requirements if a student is returning to their school and complete Illinois School transfer forms.
- Create and maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to student success.
- Obtain grades from vocational staff for each semester.
- Add parents to the parent portal after 4-6 weeks.
- Stay current with ISBE policies and documentation
- Print weekly lesson plans, tally sheets, and daily homework sheets.
- Supervise the assistant teacher
- Oversee and manage the school budget and spending. Ensure cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high-quality standards
Faith-Based Requirement
- This position is part of Salem4Youth’s ministry team and requires the employee to be a committed Christian who actively participates in a local church. The successful candidate must affirm our Statement of Faith and demonstrate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Ministry Responsibilities
- This role includes responsibilities that support the spiritual mission of the organization, such as mentoring youth, leading prayer, or participating in worship services.
Qualifications
- Experience or certification in special education, alternative education, or Christian education preferred
- Familiarity with or willingness to use a Christian home school-based curriculum
- Ability to work in a small classroom setting with individualized instruction
- A bachelor’s degree in education or a related field is required
