The Quality Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Quality Manager in supervising a diverse and talented manufacturing team. Your primary goal is to properly organize staff members to achieve a productive workflow throughout the day. Supervisors direct daily team operations with the guidance provided by the Quality Manager.
ADMINISTRATIVE INSTRUCTIONS/AUTHORIZATIONS:
- Supervisors are responsible for daily timekeeping and managing their team’s PTO (scheduling and approval) in Plex and performing periodic and annual evaluations of their team members.
- Decisions for corrective action (attendance, breach of any policies, performance, misconduct)
- Supervisors will make on-the-spot corrections for performance and attendance. Escalated corrections will be presented to management for resolution with input from the Supervisor.
- Supervisors will escalate all misconduct and policy breaches to management.
- Hiring/firing actions, injury investigations, medical accommodations/requests, leaves of absences, and other administrative actions not otherwise defined.
- For professional development, Supervisors will be included in these actions or investigations.
- Quality Manager is the final authorizer prior to GM disposition.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Quality Manager by helping quality staff achieve company goals by communicating expectations, planning, monitoring, and evaluating job results.
- Ensures the company’s inspection processes are being followed by all inspectors.
- Support Inspectors by answering technical questions and providing resolutions.
- Support the company’s goals by executing to the production schedule.
- Implements cost-saving strategies and techniques.
- Ensure inspectors work areas are maintained to appropriate standards, based on 6S methodologies.
- Inspires and motivates employees to perform at their best through positive encouragement.
- Interfaces with the production supervisor and/or manager to help with prioritization what rework needs to be completed to meet production schedule.
- Coordinate training for new inspectors on processes and procedures.
- Monitor weekly rework numbers and execute corrective actions when needed.
- Resolve issues and disputes between Quality employees and other departments.
- Evaluate and report the condition of Quality equipment.
- Work with safety team to help maintain clean and safe environment for all workers.
- Identify and lead the implementation of continuous improvement projects designed to impact product or process quality.
- Lead and coordinate Root Cause and Corrective Action activities: gather intradepartmental team members to review nonconforming product, derive root cause(s), and document and verify the implementation of necessary corrective action(s).
- Perform additional activities assigned by the Quality Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2-5 years of experience with MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Plex, etc.)
- Preferred experience in a team lead technical role
- 2-5 years of experience working in an AS9100 Aerospace/Military Manufacturing environment.
- Skilled in the use of measuring equipment, such as scales, calipers, and micrometers.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, time management and communication skills.
- Ability to learn and train other team members new processes or techniques.
- Competence with MS Office and other computer operating systems.
- Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Possesses intermediate knowledge of production planning and manufacturing processes
- Ability to deal with complex issues in a fast-paced setting
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES AND OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS:
- AS9100 or ISO9001 Business Management System.
- AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) Standards.
- J-STD-001 Solder Workmanship (including Space Addendum).
- IPC-A-620 Wire Harness Workmanship (including Space Addendum).
- Knowledge of wire harness manufacturing and soldering; aerospace manufacturing or relevant environment
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Leadership: able to build morale and group commitments to achieve goals and objectives; inspires and motivates others to perform well.
- The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
- The ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
