Education Facilitator (Temporary)
Compensation: $20/hour
General Work Hours: 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday-Friday up to 25 hours per week

Description:
The Hands-On History Education Facilitator will lead engaging educational programs for children ages 6–12 (grades 1–7) in a licensed full-day child care setting. Through immersive, hands-on experiences, the facilitator will create a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.
In addition to out-of-school-time programming, the facilitator will lead El Pueblo History Museum's educational programs for K–12 students during the school day. These immersive, experiential field trips and outreach programs align with the Colorado Academic Standards and provide students with meaningful opportunities to explore the diverse stories that have shaped Colorado's past through hands-on learning.
Essential Duties:
- Facilitate educational programs that engage students with history through interdisciplinary, hands-on learning.
- Assist the Education Coordinator with educational programming and the supervision of groups of children.
- Serve as an additional point of contact for parents seeking information about program activities, as well as their child's successes or concerns.
- Follow and enforce program expectations while maintaining a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
- Collaborate with staff, teachers, and chaperones to ensure students are actively engaged, supervised, and accounted for.
- Communicate regularly with the Education Coordinator regarding the needs and concerns of staff, students, and families.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of program spaces and ensure materials and supplies are properly stored and inventoried.
- Facilitate museum field trips for K–12 students and their chaperones.
- Facilitate outreach programs and community events throughout the Pueblo area.
- Assist education staff with administrative tasks as needed.
- Exercise sound judgment and promptly report all incidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to supervisors.
Requirements:
- Must complete approximately 15 hours of required training (both in-person and online), including First Aid/CPR, mandated reporter training, and other required certifications, before beginning employment. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of background checks and fingerprinting.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have at least three (3) months of full-time, or equivalent part-time, satisfactory and verifiable experience (455 hours) working with school-age children from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of abilities.
- Excellent organizational, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
- Ability to occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds and frequently bend, reach, and squat.
- Coursework or experience in education, museum studies, history, or a related field is preferred.
