A great client at UHY is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a CPA (or working on it), strong Excel / Systems experience, as well as 3+ years of experience in public accounting or public accounting + industry.
The Senior Accountant role is a hybrid position, with 1 day each week being onsite (this is flexible). This is a client direct hire position.
Senior Accountant Responsibilities:
- Apply revenue recognition guidance to product and service sales, including identifying performance obligations, allocating transaction prices, and evaluating principal versus agent considerations.
- Record and reconcile customer deposits related to advance orders and prepayments.
- Reconcile revenue, inventory, cost of sales, and customer order activity for monthly financial reporting.
- Analyze inventory for valuation and impairment in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Manage monthly close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, inventory roll-forwards, and profitability reporting.
- Partner with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis related to revenue and cost of sales.
- Develop and maintain internal controls and scalable accounting processes to support compliance requirements.
- Support external audits and assist with financial statement disclosures related to revenue and inventory.
- Evaluate the accounting impact of new products, business initiatives, and operational changes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve and streamline the order-to-cash process.
- Participate in ERP implementation projects, including defining accounting requirements, performing user acceptance testing (UAT), and documenting results.
Senior Accountant Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- 3+ years of accounting experience; public accounting experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of revenue recognition guidance (ASC 606) and related accounting principles.
- Experience with inventory accounting, including cost of sales, reserves, and inventory reconciliations.
- Experience with ERP systems and working with cross-functional teams on system implementations or process improvements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
- Experience developing or improving accounting processes in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
