Dogwood Boots & Workwear is a new, locally owned retail store opening this September in Athens, GA. Our mission is simple: To be the trusted destination for quality work boots and workwear by delivering expert guidance, exceptional customer service, and a retail experience that customers value and recommend.
It is our goal to find an Assistant Store Manager who wants more than just another retail position. This is different! We’re looking for someone experienced, motivated, and accountable that is excited to participate in building out a new business.
This is a rare opportunity to help build a business from the beginning. You'll work directly with the owner to establish store operations, create merchandising standards, and build a culture centered on exceptional customer service.
We're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems, and making a meaningful impact every day.
JOB SUMMARY
As Assistant Store Manager, you'll play a key role in many aspects of the business.
Responsibilities include:
- Deliver an outstanding customer experience on every visit
- Help recruit, train, and develop future team members
- Lead daily store operations and maintain high operational standards
- Merchandise products and maintain an organized, visually appealing sales floor
- Help implement promotions and community events
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment
- Work directly with ownership to improve processes and grow the business
- Daily opening and closing procedures

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The ideal candidate is someone who:
- Has previous retail management or leadership experience (3 years)
- Naturally enjoys helping customers and leading people
- Takes pride in keeping a store organized and well merchandised
- Is dependable, self-motivated, and comfortable making decisions
- Communicates well with customers, coworkers, and vendors
- Works with integrity and follows through on commitments
- Thrives in an environment where every day may be a little different
Experience in footwear, work boots, western footwear, apparel, farm and ranch retail, or specialty retail is a plus, but a willingness to learn and a positive attitude are just as important.
