Position Summary:
The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood and urine specimen samples. They must ensure proper labeling, storage and transportation. Phlebotomist will maintain meticulous records, document any discrepancies and notify supervisors of sample issues. Will work with clients of all ages and must follow strict safety and infection control protocols to protect both clients and themselves.
Part Time Position: 20 hours/Week (Monday-Friday) morning schedule.
Compliance: Adherence to OSHA Blood-borne Pathogens standards.
Core Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain confidentiality in all matters.

Perform blood collections by venipuncture for all age groups.

Collect specimens for drug screens and alcohol tests.

Perform accurate data entry of client information in a timely manner.

Complete documentation in the client’s electronic medical record per Enki and Los Angeles County, Department of Mental Health “DMH” requirements.

Travel to all clinics to perform on-site collections.

Travel to laboratories to deposit specimens for testing.

Maintain all client and specimen information logs.
-
Properly dispose of all hazardous waste and materials.
-
Maintain and keep accurate count of all supplies and order more when needed.

Attend and participate in all in-service training as necessary.

Other duties as assigned.

Implement and support all Company policies and procedures as applicable.
Health and Safety Requirements:
Immunizations: Must provide proof of vaccination or laboratory evidence of immunity (blood titers) for the following:
-
Hepatitis B: A complete 3-dose vaccine series or a quantitative surface antibody titer showing immunity.

Tuberculosis (TB) Screening: A negative skin test or QuantiFERON blood test administered within the past several months. If you have a history of a positive reaction, you must provide a recent clear chest X-ray.

MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Documentation of 2 doses of the vaccine or a positive titer confirming your immunity

Varicella (Chickenpox): Documentation of 2 doses of the vaccine or a positive laboratory titer.

Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis): Proof of an adult booster shot given within the last 10 years.
Minimum Education and Experience Preferred:

High school diploma, GED or equivalent.

One year of experience as phlebotomist preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:

Valid certification as Phlebotomy Technician CPT I or CPT II.

Valid California driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and eligibility to drive for the Company preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to perform in a positive, courteous, flexible and adaptive manner.
- Able to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
- Computer literate and experienced with computer programs such as Microsoft Office Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Must be able to communicate clearly, both orally and written.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
