This individual is responsible for preparation and participation in accounting (as well as Tax and Assurance, where applicable) engagements to deliver quality accounting services for our clients. This position offers excellent opportunities for growth and career advancement to the right candidate.

We envision our Staff Level Accountants to function as a support team for all aspects of the firm: Tax, CAAS & Assurance. This will enable them to gain exposure to all areas of client services until an area of interest and expertise emerges. Staff Accountants Team Members are expected to become strong at accounting, preparing financial statements, cleaning up Trial Balances, etc., and also prepare write-up work, payroll returns (we process most of our returns through ADP), sales tax returns, tangible returns, and preparation of non-attest financial statements. They would also be expected to learn our various apps, our “tech stack”, available to streamline our CAAS offerings such as Xero, QBO, Bill.com, LedgerSync, Gusto, etc., as well begin to show interest and develop experience in one or more of our industry segments: Healthcare, Transportation & Logistics, Restaurants & Hospitality, Not for Profits, Manufacturing & Distributions, and Construction.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients and consult with them regularly concerning financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, processes & procedures, and other general business issues.
Prepare and/or review financial statements for clients across multiple industry sectors.
Develop and streamline accounting procedures.
Provide suggestions and ideas for cost reduction and efficiency gains.
Maintain knowledge of P&R “Tech Stack” of Accounting Apps for firm & clients
Maintain organized work papers and supporting documentation.
Affirm budgeted engagement hours and deadlines.
Schedule internal and external deadlines to meet client expectations for delivery.
Identify and communicate accounting matters to senior managers and partners.
Lead by example to positively impact employee morale.
Regularly looks for opportunities, recommendations, and additional firm services that could benefit clients.
Provides the client and other members of the P&R Team with a clean set of books.
Prepares various tax returns such as Personal Property Tax, Payroll Tax and Sales Tax.
Preparation of federal and state income taxes for individuals, businesses, real estate, and exempt organizations.
Analyze notice and prepare internal memoranda, written correspondence/guidance and other documents for submission to the IRS, Treasury Department or state and local taxing authorities.
Manage multiple clients, budgets and production goals.
Perform tax research.
Prepares tax planning and estimates/projections.
Maintain good workflow and provide feedback for greater efficiency.
Recommend tax saving strategies to clients and staff on engagements.
Assist Assurance team with fieldwork as necessary
Education/Experience:
One to two years of full-charge bookkeeping experience.
Experience preparing Balance Sheets, Income Statements & Trial Balances.
Tax (federal, state, payroll, tangible, sales and local) research skills (preferred, but not required).
Strong accounting foundation and analytical skills.
Strong computer skills: proficiency in QuickBooks, Accounting software, Excel, Word.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (preferred, but not required).
CPA or EA Certification (preferred, but not required).
1+ years prior experience in public accounting experience (preferred).
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
