General Purpose of the Job:
As a Food Expeditor, you serve as the critical link between the back of house and front of house, ensuring every dish leaves the kitchen accurate, complete, and presented to Tin Star standards. You must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to think and act quickly while remaining calm under pressure. Timing and communication are everything in this role, you keep the flow of food moving smoothly so guests receive hot, correctly prepared orders without unnecessary delay. Consistency is key element in a positive guest experience, and we achieve this by always following our plating and quality standards. Take pride in your work, communicate clearly with both kitchen and front of house teams, and display integrity and honesty in all aspects of your employment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review tickets carefully to ensure all items, modifications, and special requests are accounted for before food leaves the kitchen
- Inspect every plate for accuracy, proper portioning, and presentation according to Tin Star standards before it goes out
- Communicate clearly and calmly with line cooks and kitchen staff to coordinate timing so entire orders go out together
- Call out orders and expedite ticket flow to keep service moving efficiently during rushes
- Catch and correct errors (wrong items, missing components, incorrect modifications) before food reaches guest
- Work as a team with kitchen and front of house personnel to maintain an effective atmosphere and efficient food service
- Keep the expo station clean, organized, and always stocked to Tin Star Standards
- Monitor ticket times and alert kitchen staff to orders that are falling behind to keep service on pace
- Garnish and finish plates as needed to ensure consistent presentation
- Communicate with servers/front of house regarding order status, delays or special guest requests
- Be alert to the overall pace of service and adjust priorities to keep both kitchen and dining room running smoothly
- Other duties as directed
Requirements:
- Knowledge of FIFO inventory method.
- Basic knowledge of beer, wine and spirits, and be familiar with standard drink recipes.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Organizational skills with the ability to multitask
- Knowledge of Tin Star’s food & beverage specifications.
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
- State applicable health and/or alcohol compliance card.
