Primary Classroom Teacher (Grades: Kindergarten - 2nd)
Position Summary:
The Primary Classroom Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of students in Kindergarten, Grade 1, or Grade 2. The teacher delivers standards-based instruction aligned with curriculum frameworks, uses data to inform instruction, collaborates with colleagues and families, and fosters a positive classroom community that promotes student growth and achievement.
Essential Responsibilities:
Instruction and Curriculum

Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction in literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and social-emotional learning.

Implement district curriculum and instructional programs aligned with state standards.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students, including English learners and students with disabilities.

Use a variety of instructional strategies, materials, and technology tools to engage learners.

Foster critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills.
Assessment and Student Growth

Assess student learning using formal and informal measures.

Analyze assessment data to monitor progress and guide instructional decisions.

Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.

Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and families.

Participate in Response to Intervention (RTI/MTSS) and Student Support Team processes as needed.
Classroom Environment

Establish and maintain clear expectations, routines, and procedures.

Create a positive, respectful, and culturally responsive classroom environment.

Support students’ social-emotional development and promote positive peer interactions.

Implement effective classroom management strategies that maximize instructional time.
Collaboration and Communication

Collaborate with grade-level teams, specialists, interventionists, and administrators.

Communicate regularly and effectively with families regarding student progress and classroom activities.

Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-based initiatives.

Work collaboratively to support school goals and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required.

Valid MA teaching license/certification in Early Childhood Education required.

Experience working with primary-aged students.

Knowledge of child development and evidence-based instructional practices.

Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
-
Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to move throughout the classroom and school environment.

Ability to supervise students in classroom and outdoor settings.

Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and classroom supplies as needed.
Terms of Employment:

School year position in accordance with district calendar and collective bargaining agreement.
