Position Title: Director of Kids
Reports to: Managing Director Next Gen
Status: Full-time, Ministry Staff (45 hours/week)
Schedule: Variable; Sunday Mornings
Job Purpose and Goals:
This role is pivotal in overseeing and advancing the Kids Ministry at Lincoln Berean Church by leading our dedicated Kids Team. It involves inspiring children from birth to 5th grade to grow in their faith in Jesus, fostering a vibrant and engaging discipleship culture, and empowering volunteers to play a crucial role in nurturing each child's spiritual journey.
We are looking for someone who loves Jesus more than anything, loves people, has a passion for teaching children God’s Word and willing to think outside the box to present the gospel to children in age-appropriate relevant ways.
The five key roles for this ‘seat’ are:

- Program Oversight, Implementation and Effectiveness of Kids Ministry
- Leadership, Management and Accountability
- Systematic and Strategic Team Builder of Staff and Key Leaders

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Ministry Philosophy, Vision, Strategy and Alignment
- Establish and uphold the Philosophy, Vision, and Strategy for Kids Ministry, including the curriculum.
- Work intentionally to build continuity and alignment across Kids Ministry, and with other ministries within Lincoln Berean as needed
- Create effective personal contact and follow-up for guests, newcomers and kids ensuring they are informed of the next steps to get plugged in.
- Utilize Kids Ministry facilities for maximum effectiveness and excellence, including oversight of maintenance of equipment and supplies in all Kids Ministry spaces
- Evaluate staffing regularly and revise where needed
- Develop and accomplish annual and quarterly Kids Ministry goals including weekly execution of Kids Worship and special events.
- Manage the Kids Ministry budget and steward the allocated resources. Forecast and plan next year’s budget according to vision, goals and needs.
Program Oversight Implementation and Effectiveness
- Continually assess and report on ministry effectiveness and make improvements as needed.
- Lead the Kids team in innovation and forward thinking to find the best solutions
- Oversee the leadership of a dynamic large group experience during weekend services that includes a live host, teacher, Kid’s worship leader/team, and other elements.
- Collaborate with Kids Coordinator to facilitate regular and effective communication (email, social media, etc.) about programs, teaching, resources, and overseeing the general promotion of Kids Ministry.
- Ensure that all spaces are covered on a Sunday morning (delegate as needed)
- Oversee Graceland and Special Needs ministries, including being the main point of contact for the ministry leader and resourcing as needed
Leadership, Management and Accountability
- Provide a compelling and collaborative vision, clear direction and motivation for direct reports.
- Oversee hiring and training of staff in Kids Ministry.
- Provide quarterly feedback and annual reviews to all direct and part-time employees.
- Provide leadership, development, and coaching to direct Kids Team.
- Nurture a healthy team environment, recognizing and rewarding team members’ contributions.
- Lead the weekly L10 meetings for Kids Ministry and participate in the Next Gen team meetings.
- Oversee tracking, communication, project management and logistics.

Develop a Dynamic Volunteer Culture
- Assess the various needs for committed volunteers to serve in Kids Ministry.
- Collaborate with Kids Team to identify, recruit, equip and encourage high-capacity volunteers leading and executing on the vision and mission.
- Ensure the faithful execution of policies and volunteer screening in accordance with safety protocols (background checks, etc.)
- Cultivate Major Lay-Leader Relationships and be consistently engaged and responsive to volunteer team leaders and volunteers.
- Provide the framework to train and equip volunteers and collaborate in the process as needed.
Events
- Oversee the execution of large and small events such as VBS, Date Night, etc.
- Coordinate learning environments on relevant topics for parent discipleship, and leading parents through childhood milestones such as Parent/Child Dedication, baptisms, and the transition out of Kids Ministry
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree Required; Bible College or Seminary preferred.
- Experience within Kids Ministry (3-5 years) in a larger church.
- Ability to manage and lead through a large team of lay leaders and volunteers.
- Demonstrated skill in leadership development, discipling, and delegation.
- Proven experience in creating processes and systems to operate at high level.
- Experience with recruiting and training volunteers, especially in a church environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
