We are looking for a Full-Time Histology Lab Assistant who would like to join a fast-paced Pathology Lab. As a Histology Laboratory Assistant on our team, you will perform a variety of laboratory procedures and clerical functions in laboratory area and maintain laboratory operations with precision and efficiency. In this role you will support the Histologists by receiving specimens that arrive and verifying accompanying paperwork. Modernizing Medicine & EZDERM experience is a plus.
Histotechnologist Responsibilities & Duties
- Assist with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing, and storing specimens.
- Receives and determines acceptability of specimens correctly, check insurance acceptance, matching order with the specimen using at least two identifiers and tests ordered.
- Prepares specimens for sending out to reference lab.
- Preparation of slides, blocks and documents, and matching paperwork and for assembly of cases
- Notifies the supervisor of any mislabeled or missing specimens immediately.
- Recognizes specimen types that require special handling to enable correct processing the by the technologist.
- Maintains minimum inventory of supplies to ensure continuous workflow and sufficient supplies for the next day.
- Perform clerical duties including answering phones, data entry and filing.
- Communicates any unusual occurrences or variations from routine operation to the supervisor.
- Cleans and decontaminates workstation. Documents cleaning of laboratory equipment as assigned.
- Receive supplies and restock inventory.
- Maintain strict adherence to laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory standards
- Performs additional duties as needed to support daily operations
Histotechnologist Qualifications & Skills
·Prior Lab Experience (Preferred not required)
· Knowledge of laboratory information systems
· Strong organizational skills
· Detail-oriented and high degree of accuracy
· Excellent communication skills
Schedule : Monday -Friday, 8:30AM-5:00PM
