Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify appointments, and check-in/check-out efficiently using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Schedule appointments and coordinate patient flow to optimize clinic productivity
- Collect and process medical payments, insurance information, and perform medical collections with accuracy
- Manage patient records with meticulous attention to confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA policies
- Assist with documentation review, coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and billing procedures to support accurate medical billing and coding processes
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; direct calls appropriately and handle patient inquiries promptly
- Maintain organized filing of medical records, clinical documents, and administrative files using Microsoft Office tools
- Support clinical staff by reviewing care plans, updating medical records, and ensuring compliance with health information management standards
Experience
- Prior clinic or medical office experience is highly preferred, especially within ophthalmology or dental clinics
- Demonstrated proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth
- Strong knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA regulations, and health information management
- Experience with medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT) and billing procedures is desirable
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential
- Proven customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and professionally
- Strong clerical skills such as filing, typing (including 10-key), data entry, and phone communication are required
