Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Custodian to join our facilities maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across our campus. Your proactive approach to cleaning, custodial tasks, and basic maintenance will ensure our facilities operate smoothly and meet high standards of cleanliness and safety. Duties
Cleaning and Sanitation:
- Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
- Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms
- Emptying trash and recycle bins
- Wiping down surfaces, windows, and high touch areas
- Restocking supplies like soap, paper towels, and toiletries
Building Security:
- Locking doors, windows, and gates
- Setting alarms and ensuring the building is secure overnight
- Reporting any suspicious activity or safety concern
Light Maintenance:
- Replacing light bulbs
- Reporting or fixing minor repairs (leaks, loose fixtures, etc.)
- Notifying manager of larger maintenance issues
Setup and Support:
- Setup for events or meetings
- Breaking a room down and resetting after event is complete
General Responsibilities:
- Following safety and cleaning protocols
- Using cleaning equipment properly
- Keeping storage and supply areas organized
Requirements
- Proven custodial or janitorial experience in commercial, industrial, or residential settings.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and familiarity with commercial cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and scrubbers.
- Experience handling chemical agents safely with an understanding of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting while following safe lifting practices.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on cleanliness and safety standards.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High School Diploma or its equivalent
- At least three years of experience
